Precision Blank Holder Control. Wrinkle-Free Deep Draws Every Cycle.
The KAVDO Deep Drawing Hydraulic Press (Y27 Series) is purpose-built for sheet metal deep drawing operations where blank holder force, ram speed and drawing depth must be precisely controlled throughout the entire stroke to prevent wrinkling, tearing and uneven wall thickness.
Unlike general-purpose hydraulic presses, this machine features a dedicated double-acting hydraulic system with independently programmable main cylinder and blank holder cylinder — allowing real-time pressure profiling that adapts to material flow characteristics during each draw stage.
- Independent blank holder cylinder with proportional pressure control
- Multi-stage programmable drawing speed profiles
- Full-stroke tonnage delivery for deep, complex shapes
- Hydraulic cushion for uniform material flow control
- PLC + HMI with recipe storage for rapid die changeover
Key Advantages
The KAVDO deep drawing hydraulic press combines independent blank holder control, variable-speed drawing and servo-hydraulic precision — engineered specifically to eliminate wrinkling, tearing and thickness variation in complex drawn parts.
Independent Blank Holder Pressure
The dedicated blank holder cylinder provides independently adjustable holding force (0–100% of rated capacity) via proportional valves. Programmable pressure profiles allow the blank holder force to vary throughout the stroke — starting high to prevent initial wrinkling, then gradually reducing as material flows into the die cavity for optimal wall thickness uniformity.
Multi-Stage Speed Profiling
Servo-proportional valves enable programmable multi-stage ram speed control: fast approach, slow initial contact, variable drawing speed based on draw depth and fast return. Each stage is independently adjustable via the PLC — allowing optimized cycle times for different material types, thicknesses and drawing ratios without compromising part quality.
Deep Draw Ratio Excellence
Achieves drawing ratios up to 2.5:1 in a single draw and deeper ratios through multi-stage progressive drawing — forming cylindrical cups, rectangular enclosures and irregular shapes from flat blanks. The combination of controlled blank holder force, slow drawing speed and hydraulic cushion support enables complex geometries that mechanical presses cannot produce.
Hydraulic Die Cushion System
Built-in hydraulic die cushion beneath the bolster provides uniform upward counter-pressure during the draw stroke. Multiple pressure zones (available on larger models) ensure even material flow around complex die geometries — preventing localized thinning and improving surface finish quality on critical aesthetic and structural components.
Wrinkle & Crack Prevention
Real-time closed-loop pressure monitoring continuously adjusts blank holder force based on actual material resistance feedback. If drawing force exceeds preset thresholds, the system automatically pauses to prevent die damage and workpiece cracking — ensuring zero-defect production runs and protecting expensive deep draw tooling.
Lower Scrap Rate & Tooling Cost
Controlled drawing speed and proportional blank holder force reduce impact shock on dies by up to 60% compared to mechanical presses. This extends die life by 40–70%, dramatically lowers per-part tooling cost and reduces scrap rates to below 1% for properly developed processes — delivering significant ROI on high-volume deep draw production.

Machine Structure
Purpose-built with a four-column frame, double-acting hydraulic system, independent blank holder cylinder and integrated die cushion — every component is optimized for precision deep drawing performance.
-
1
Four-Column Guided Frame
Pre-stressed alloy steel columns with precision-ground surfaces ensure perfect parallelism between ram and bolster. Zero lateral deflection under full tonnage guarantees uniform draw depth across the entire workpiece.
-
2
Main Drawing Cylinder
Forged alloy steel piston with hard-chrome plating and precision-honed bore. Provides full rated tonnage at any point in the stroke for deep, sustained drawing operations.
-
3
Blank Holder Cylinder
Independently controlled blank holder with proportional pressure adjustment. Programmable multi-stage pressure profiles prevent wrinkling while allowing optimal material flow into the die cavity.
-
4
Hydraulic Die Cushion
Built-in cushion beneath the bolster provides uniform counter-pressure during drawing. Multi-point pressure distribution available on larger models for complex die geometries.
Hydraulic Cushion
The hydraulic cushion in a deep drawing hydraulic press is an essential support device that ensures uniform force distribution on the workpiece, preventing deformation or wrinkling. The table surface of it features regularly spaced round holes with round rods inside, which move up and down with the cylinder below. This mechanism works with stretching molds to facilitate product stretching, improving production efficiency and reducing material waste and defects.

4-Step Deep Drawing Workflow
From blank positioning to finished drawn part — each stage is precisely controlled with programmable pressure profiles, variable speed drawing and coordinated blank holder & cushion operation.
Program & Setup
Load the drawing recipe on the HMI touchscreen — set main cylinder tonnage, blank holder pressure profile, drawing speed stages, dwell time and ejector force. Install the die set and calibrate the blank holder gap. Stored recipes enable changeover in minutes.
Blank & Clamp
Place the flat sheet metal blank on the draw die. The blank holder descends to clamp the blank edges with programmed initial holding force. Sensors verify blank position and thickness before cycle start. Die cushion pressurizes to the preset counter-force.
Draw & Form
The ram approaches at high speed, transitions to controlled drawing speed on material contact. Blank holder force adjusts dynamically per the programmed profile. Material flows smoothly into the die cavity with uniform wall thickness. Dwell at bottom for shape stabilization if required.
Eject & Unload
Ram returns at high speed. Blank holder releases. Ejector cylinder pushes the finished drawn part off the die. Part is removed manually or via automation. Cycle counter increments and the system is ready for the next blank immediately.
